A Heartfelt Gift for Grieving Mothers

When we first launched the Bella Joy Foundation, our mission was to support families who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby. While our original goal was to help cover funeral expenses, we quickly realized that with limited funds, we needed a way to make an immediate impact.

 

We asked ourselves:

What can we do right now to let a grieving mother know she is not alone?

And from that question, Bella’s Butterfly Box was born.

What Is Bella’s Butterfly Box?

Bella’s Butterfly Box is a lovingly curated sympathy gift for mothers who have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. These boxes are a small but meaningful way to offer comfort during a time of unimaginable grief. Each one is designed to remind a mother that she is seen, supported, and never alone.

Thoughtfully Personalized

Whenever possible, we invite families to share their story (if they feel comfortable doing so). This helps us create a box that feels personal and intentional—because every mother, every baby, and every loss is unique.

 

Each box may include comforting items such as:

• Memorial keepsakes

• Journals or guided grief resources

• Self-care items

• Notes of encouragement

No two boxes are exactly the same. Each is assembled with love and care, depending on the supplies we have available.

Delivered with Love

Since the first box was sent on June 21, 2024, we’ve been honored to donate, mail, or hand-delivered 208 Butterfly Boxes to grieving mothers (12/31/2025). Many have been distributed to hospitals across Wisconsin, while others have been mailed directly to homes, always at no cost to the family.

 

 

A Mission Rooted in Love

Losing a baby is a pain no parent should ever have to endure. Bella’s Butterfly Box is our way of gently stepping into that grief and offering a small, tangible reminder that:

You are not alone.

You are deeply loved.

Your baby is remembered.
